Regional Roving Logistics Specialist

Job Purpose

The Regional Roving Logistics Specialist will assist the Middle East & Eurasia Regional Logistics Manager to improve the capacity and performance of logistics staff / teams in Save the Children International Country Offices within the region by working with the country’ office logistics teams. The position holder will he responsible for providing technical support and deploy to specific country offices in the Middle East & Eurasia Region

Qualifications and Experience;

Essential

Bachelor/ Masters Certificate or Diploma in Supply Chain Management/Logistics or related held

Preferable International experience in supply chani management in an emergency environment including procurement, transport and distribution, warehouse, and stock management

Previous experience working for Save the Children International or members

Minimum 3-4 years or more experience in logistics management and coordination in the NGO sector, within complex/large scale country programmes and in emergency response/humanitarian environments, preferably to have 1 to 2 years international experience

Computer literate (including working knowledge of MS Word, Excel) and competency in development of spreadsheets and databases ;

Proven experience in all technical areas of logistics operations including procurement, transport/distribution, warehousing and stock management, fleet management, asset manage­ment, cold chain, eonrmunications, and security.

Experience streamlining and automating Logistics processes, including refining processes, developing user-friendly manuals and training programs, and assessing, selecting, and deploying suitable logistics tools where applicable and necessary.

Experience of working in remote field bases with limited infrastructure Deep understanding and interpretation of Incoterms as well as their application

Experience working with large institutional donors and knowledge of their rules and regulations in regards to logistics and procurement.

Ability to synthesize and analyse information, and make clear, informed decisions

Ability to build relationships quickly with a wide range of people, both internally and externally

Strong planning, management and coordination skills, with the ability to organise a substantial workload comprised of complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities

Experience in development and implementation of efficient logistics systems, procedures and guidelines.

Excellent written and spoken communication and interpersonal skills

Cross-cultural experience, understanding and sensitivity

Fluency in written and spoken English (required). Arab is a distinct advantage

Willingness and ability to travel extensively within the Middle East & Eurasia Region

Experience in developing and carrying out staff training programs

Experience in remote management

Experience in technical programme support in areas of construction, distribution, medical supply chain, water and sanitation

Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours in the event of major emergencies including travelling at short notice and for extended periods of time.

Demonstrated high-level interpersonal and cross-cultural skills including the ability to build collaborative relationships internally and externally with sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, social and political issues

Willingness to travel 50% of the time, with little or no prior noticeI
