JOB VACANCIES FOR USAID – LOCAL ENTERPRISE SUPPORT PROJECT
The USAID Jordan Local Enterprise Support Project (LENS) is a five-year project, implemented by FHI 360 that supports small business growth and better economic planning to strengthen Jordanian communities against economic adversity. USAID LENS brings local governments, business owners and key community groups to collaborate together on initiatives that will boost economic development and create jobs in their communities. These initiatives will be focused on supporting the growth of micro and small enterprises (MSEs) and inclusive of women, youth and other vulnerable groups. The following positions are required:
Women’s Economic Empowerment Technical Advisor
WEE Technical Advisor is expected to drive the majority of technical work. This position requires extensive work in the field, and engagement with beneficiaries of a variety of capacities and backgrounds. The Technical Advisor is expected to: strengthen and expand the project’s business training and support to women-led businesses operating in non-traditional sectors; lead initiatives to help meet women’s demand for finance; work with business service providers to raise awareness of the positive business impacts of greater diversity.
Qualifications:
Jordanian national
Fluency in spoken Arabic and English
Exceptional writing skills in English and Arabic
Master’s degree or higher in the Social Sciences and/or a field related to USAID LENS’ core technical work.
Prior experience in the design and implementation of gender equality/women’s economic empowerment programs or activities, with demonstrated results, reflected in women’s increased access to or control over economic resources, or changes in social attitudes and/or power relations at the household, community, regional or national level.
Women’s Economic Empowerment Advocacy Advisor
WEE Advocacy Advisor is expected to lead the design, development and implementation of macro-level initiatives that strengthen the visibility, impact and sustainability of technical activities in the field. Specifically, the WEE Advocacy Advisor is expected to build awareness among national stakeholders of the impact of diversity in national economies and build support for diversity efforts at different levels of the economy and advance initiatives that facilitate women’s financial inclusion.
Qualifications:
Jordanian national
Fluency in spoken Arabic and English
Exceptional writing skills in English and Arabic
A bachelor’s degree or higher in the Social Sciences and/or a field related to USAID LENS’ core technical work.
Experience in advocacy, with demonstrated results; experience with successful advocacy related to gender equality and/or women’s empowerment will be preferred.
Prior experience in designing and implementing gender equality/women’s economic empowerment programs or activities, including those that have resulted in a change to social attitudes and/or power relations at the household, community, regional or national level.
