The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is a non-governmental, humanitarian organization with 60 years of experience in helping to create a safer and more dignified life for refugees and internally displaced people. We work to build the resilience of Syrians, and to relieve the impact on the Jordanian communities that host them. Syrian refugees in Jordan are struggling. As they contend with difficult living conditions across the country, the obstacles are complex. They struggle to remain registered as refugees, to provide for their families, and to access essential services – including education for their children. The Jordanian communities that host them, meanwhile, feel the impact of hosting high numbers of refugees – with each year that passes, local infrastructure becomes more strained.Role Specific InformationGeneric Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with NRC policies, guidelines and standards
  • Ensure compliance with core competency strategy, tools, handbooks, guidelines and standards
  • Core competency specific technical responsibility for implementation of technical activities of core competency project(s)
  • Core competency specific technical responsibility for tracking of financial expenditures for technical activities of core competency project(s)
  • Core competency specific technical responsibility for the quality control and monitoring of project activities
  • Core competency specific technical responsibility for project documentation of technical activities of core competency project(s)
  • Provide specific technical support and capacity building towards project staff
  • Provide specific technical analysis and feedback to NRC representatives in coordination forums
  • Assess, promote and document ideas for technical improvement and further program development options
  • Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist
  • Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy
  • Monitor and document the implementation of project activities done by implementing partners and/or contractors (plan of action activities, contracts, financial expenditures and project documentation)
  • Conduct quality control and provide technical support to implementing partners and/or contactors

Specific Responsibilities

  • Serve as general support for Jordan Chamber of Industries in activities involving their engagement with both the private and INGO/NGO sector
  • Directly supports NRC and JCI’s Intermediation Programming such as Curriculum Development, Participant Outreach, and private sector engagement.
  • Support specific activities focused on NRC and JCI’s current projects and partnership including Technical and Vocational Training and the development of sector specific curriculum
  • Coordinate and Support affiliated chambers in the north of Jordan that are supporting NRC projects
  • Communicate with relevant NRC staff on the ongoing activities of JCI and progress of projects of interest
  • Coordinates with relevant actors, especially the private sector representing both JCI and NRC in relevant meetings and conversationsSupport Analytical Activities and Assessments focused on NRC/JCI programming.

Our Ideal CandidateWe are looking for a university graduate, with private sector experience (preferably in manufacturing) whom has a good understanding of Jordanian Labour Market (e.g., constraints, legal environment, and key stakeholders).
