Teachers – Mobile Bus

ORGANISATIONAL PURPOSE:
Islamic Relief Jordan is a country branch of Islamic Relief Worldwide. Islamic Relief Worldwide is an internationally recognized charity (Charity No.: 328158), looking back on nearly 30 years of experience in humanitarian and developmental aid. It was founded in 1984 in Birmingham, UK, in response to the devastating famine in the Horn of Africa. Since then, Islamic Relief has grown into a charity that is active worldwide, putting development projects, emergency aid, and rebuilding projects into action in over 28 countries around the world.
Islamic Relief Jordan (IRJ) began its operations in 1997 with orphan’s sponsorship, sponsoring hundreds of orphans living in Jordan. IRJ extended its programs to seasonal projects with Ramadan and Qurbani distributions and In-Kind donations. IRJ has established strong partnership with international non-governmental organization and local one’s strengthening the overall response to the Syria crisis. At the onset of Syria humanitarian crisis in late 2011, IRJ provided emergency response to those affected by violence in Syria and has since then scaled up its capacity and operations with number of 110 staff across the country.
This project will be delivered through an Educational Mobile Bus in the rural areas that provides children with low academic performance, out of school children, and children with disabilities with opportunities to participate in educational and life skills workshops. Through the project, educational sessions will be provided for the children, and sessions will be conducted to parents, teachers and community members on positive ways to interact with and support their children, and raise their awareness about child protection and children with disabilities.
JOB PURPOSE AND OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The teacher will carry out the professional duties of a teacher as circumstances may require and in accordance with IRJ’s policies under the direction of the Project Officer. Also the teacher will teach and assess the students effectively and participate to meet the project’s goals. The teacher will be responsible for planning, organizing and implementing an appropriate instructional program in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
Applicants are encouraged to apply from Mafraq area, and will be given priority. The primary contract will be 3 months, can be renewed according to funding.

BUDGET RESPONSIBILITY: Project Manager
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • To teach and educate students according to guidelines provided by IRJ
  • Able to use Ministry of Education curriculum and pre – post tests for evaluation.
  • To teach and educate students according to the educational needs, abilities and attainment potential of individual students entrusted to his/her care
  • Planning, preparing and delivering lessons to all students in the class
  • Providing or contributing to oral and written assessments, activities, and any other educational activities.
  • Submitting reports and references relating to individual students or groups of students;
  • Participating in arrangements within an agreed project framework for the appraisal of students’ performance
  • Ability to design and implement extracurricular activities.
  • Participating in staff, group or other meetings related to the project curriculum or pastoral care arrangements, for the better organization and administration of the school.
  • Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
  • Prepare required reports on students and activities.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities.
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parent (guardian) regarding student progress and student needs.
  • Perform any other task or observation by line manager

Technical skills and experience:
  • Communication and Analysis skills of the needs
  • Good experience in education and teaching children of ages 7-16

  • Understanding of humanitarian contexts and principles:
  • Good understanding of humanitarian issues, with experience of/or ability to work directly with local NGOs or communities.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor degree in Education, class management, special education, languages, social science, or related fields of study
  • Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply, 1 year experience in education and teaching the mentioned school subject is preferable.
  • Experience in class management, and children’s’ activities

  • Contract duration will be 3 months.
