Benefits
Monthly basic salary starts from JD 1,440.40 fils. Other benefits include compulsory medical insurance, annual leave & dependency allowance (if applicable).

Place in the Organisation
The incumbent of this post is responsible to the Chief, Field Infrastructure and Camp Improvement Program staff assigned to the Sanitation Services sub-programme in the Field
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
In accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent advises and assists the Chief, Field Infrastructure and Camp Improvement Program in all matters related to the Environmental Sanitation Programme, in particular:
·         Plans, organizes, supervises and evaluates camp environmental health services  in the Field to which assigned, including water supply, sewerage and drainage, solid waste management and control of insects and rodents;
·         Assesses needs and provides advice on the improvement of sanitary facilities at UNRWA schools;
·         Develops, as necessary, terms of reference for feasibility studies and co-ordinates construction works for the development of environmental infrastructure with the Field Construction & Engineering Division;
·         Develops self-help camp sanitary improvement programmes and provides technical guidance and supervision to such programmes;
·         Arranges for and participates in in-service training for sanitation staff and carries out studies and research work on sanitary subjects, as needed;
·         Liaises and maintains contact with the respective governmental, municipal and other concerned local organizations on sanitation matters planned and/or executed by the host government or local bodies for the benefit of refugee camps;
·         Performs such other duties as may be assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
·         A degree in civil engineering from a recognized university.
·         A post-graduate degree or diploma in sanitary engineering.
·         Six years of professional working experience, preferably in construction and maintenance programmes.
·         Good command of spoken and written English and Arabic.

·         Strong leadership/supervisory skills.
·         Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others in team working environment.
Desirable Qualifications
Knowledge of use of computers for statistical applications and engineering designs.
Equivalency
When the minimum requirements are not fully met, Field Director for Field Area staff and Director of Human Resources for Headquarters Area staff, in consultation with the concerned supervisor may exceptionally substitute part of the unmet requirements with a combination of relevant academic qualifications, additional professional training and progressive relevant work experience.
NB: Work experience alone or formal qualifications with no relevant work experience are not considered an acceptable combination.
