Position title: Fund Development and Communications Coordinator

Working location: Amman – Jordan

Direct Supervisor : Fund Development and Communications Manager

Functional Supervisor : Fund Development and Communications Manager

Region: Jordan – Amman.

Mission of the position:

As a non-profit organisation, SOS largely depends on private individuals, companies and other external bodies to provide the resources it needs to sustain its operations. The Fund Development and Communications Coordinator is therefore responsible for raising funds and in-kind donations to ensure the present and future operations of the SOS Children’s Village Association.

In the Communications part, He/she will ensure the maintenance of a positive external image of the Organisation, and ensure that messages to the media and the public reflect the image required by the organisation; this includes content writing, social media and managing activities that raise awareness about the work of the Association..

Main responsibilities:

  1. Secure financial support and in-kind donations from individuals, companies and other external bodies

  2. a) Participate in developing, launching and maintaining national fundraising and local sponsorship programmes;

  3. b) Research potential individuals and organisations that can be approached for sponsorship such as Family House sponsorship, Kindergarten scholarships, Family Strengthening Programmes, and for in-kind deonation;

  4. c) Develop and write bilingual proposals to be sent to targeted organisations and individuals;

  5. d) Maintain a record of proposals sent and ensure appropriate and timely follow up;

  6. e) Submit a monthly report to the Manager of Fund Development Manager and National Director, indicating funds and donations received, new sponsors approached and acquired, PR events, and local VIP’s added to the database.

2. Ensure good relations are maintained with donors and sponsors

  • a) Maintain regular contact with the donors/sponsors, keeping them informed of Village developments and activities. Send all donors/sponsors a newsletter at least twice a year;
  • b) Invite donors/sponsors to functions held at the SOS Children’s Villages;
  • c) Establish and maintain a database of sponsors and donors, plus a VIP List for PR activities.

3. Ensure the Maintenance of a Positive External Image of the Organisation

  • a) Ensure that messages to the media and the public reflect the image required by the organisation;
  • b) Safeguard the corporate identity/ brand of the organisation through the proper use of the logo and name in all documentation and public functions;
  • c) Ensure that supporters of SOS Children’s Villages are kept up to date with developments within the Association through appropriate communication;
  • d) Develop different marketing materials, such as brochures; newsletters, press releases, annual Fundraising/PR Reports and others;
  • e) Develop a social media plan covering all platforms, and posting actively and regularly to increase the reach and ensure positive engagement by the audience.
  • f) Manage activities and events that raise awareness about the work of the Association, in coordination with the Village’s teams.
  • g) Liaise with the Regional Editor to develop broader awareness of the organisation

4. Liaise with the Financial Controller on Issues relating to the Inflow/Outflow of Funds

  • a) Assist the Financial Controller with the compilation of the annual Fundraising/PR Budget;
  • b) Assist the Financial Controller with cash-flow planning, based on expected income from fundraising programmes;
  • c) Liaise with the Financial Controller on the reconciliation of monies raised through fundraising programmes;
  • d) Provide monthly income reports, and a variance analysis as required.

5. Adhere to the Association’s General Administrative/Management Policies and Guidelines

  • a) Coordinate national activities with the Fund Development Manager and the team;
  • b) Prepare the annual review of Fundraising/PR activities, and participate in planning meetings of the Association;
  • c) Ensure the development of generic fundraising proposals;
  • d) Ensure that travel and telephone records are submitted on time;
  • e) Undertake any lawful and reasonable task, as directed by the National Director.

6. Understand the SOS Children’s Village Organisation

  • a) Become familiar with the background, philosophy, principles, policies and structure of the organisation;
  • b) Understand the roles of the various SOS co-workers.

7. General

  • a) Carries out all duties in an exemplary manner and provides a good role model for the children.
  • b) Performs any other reasonable duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Job requirement :

  • At least a BA degree in Business Management / administration or related field.
  • At least 2 – 3 years of continuous work experience in the same field.
  • Proven communication and organisational skills.
  • Excellent English and Arabic speaking and writing skills.
  • Identification with the values of the organisation/ association and willingness to contribute to its aims.
  • Hard-working, dedicated and able to work under pressure.
  • well organized with good oral and written communication skills .
  • ability and energy to multi-task and prioritize.
  • a professional manner, possess good interpersonal skills and a very strong work ethic.
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word & Excel).
