Role Purpose:

Roles at this level require a highly experienced sales practitioner/manager who is responsible for determining sales function strategy and targets based on the sales plan within an allocated channel. The jobholder will support the development of pricing strategy in conjunction with other internal departments including Marketing and Production. Jobholders are responsible for the management and utilisation of significant resources and are accountable for the overall performance of the entire sales team including the roll up of sales team targets.

Responsibilities:

  • Management Role:

Provides leadership, expertise and professional advice to the Sales & Marketing Manager (country manager) on channel sales matters to ensure business objectives are supported with the right sales strategy

  • Strategies Plans & Budgets:

Develops and gains agreement to sales strategies, plans and budgets to support the implementation and realisation of agreed corporate sales objectives.

  • Team Capability:

Builds, leads and develops a highly motivated, achievement oriented sales team and supporting networks capable of meeting, or exceeding, demanding targets and profit margin objectives.

  • Sales Incentives:

Develops and makes recommendations for sales team incentive plans to encourage and reward increased sales efforts and revenues.

  • Product Pricing:

Provides input and participates in the development of pricing, discount and marketing strategies in conjunction with Marketing, to ensure competitiveness and profitability.

  • Sales Support:

Provides high level direct sales support to team leaders and sales staff in order to create win-win business situations. Maintains own selected accounts requiring executive level consideration.

  • Sales Collections

Monitors operation of sales collection activity and ensures adherence to Company credit policy in order to meet collection targets and minimizing bad debts.

  • Customer Relationship

Oversees all aspects of customer relationship activities including development of customer database and contacts in order to ensure strong client relationships convert into retained customers and growth in market share.

  • Sales Trends & Competitor Activity:

Manages the process of monitoring sales trends and competitor activity in order to determine effectiveness of sales plans and strategies. Makes necessary adjustments to maintain competitive advantage.

Requirements:

  • 6-8 years’ experience in a recognized FMCG enterprise environment with a proven track record at the supervisory level.

  • Market knowledge.
