The Role

The CM Assistant will support the Syrian refugees in each district of Za’atari Camp to manage WASH infrastructure and access to clean water. Build capacity of adults and children to mitigate WASH related diseases and provide a link between the community and Oxfam’s WASH programs, ensuring refugees have opportunity to input, participate and provide feedback on implemented activities. Build the capacity of Community Mobilization Assistants to deliver a high-quality program that is responsive to the needs of the community at district level.
 Our role will require a range of skills and experience.
Essential
  • Graduate from a recognized university (Social Science, Public health or other relevant fields).
  • At least 1-2 years’ experience of work in emergency or development context projects preferably in the field of water, sanitation and hygiene.
  • Good knowledge of public health promotion
  • Able to collect, enter and analyses data against project indicators;
  • Experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative assessments;
  • Experience of working in a multicultural team;
  • Experience of working in Refugee camp desirable
  • Good coordination skills; and strong commitment to gender equality and social justice;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Proven knowledge of computerized systems; high degree of computer literacy and word processing
  • Ability and experience to train people
  • Potential and flexibility of attitude to learn
  • The ability to present concise reports, sometimes at short notice, reflecting the problems and possible solutions for particular situations. Diplomacy, tact and administrative skills in order to work with people at managerial and, on occasions possibly senior government levels.
  • The post holder should be at ease in working with local communities and Syrian refugees.
  • Good written and spoken Arabic is essential, workable knowledge of English is desirable
  • Sympathy with the aims and objectives of Oxfam.
  • Commitment to humanitarian principles and action and to Oxfam’s equal opportunity and gender policies.

2-  Public Health Engineering Officer

The PHE Officer will work in a team of innovative Public Health Engineers (PHE’s), ensuring that all contracted works are completed to the agreed specifications and within the agreed project timeframes. Ensure maintenance of infrastructure for the duration of the contract. Participate in further assessments as required and contribute to emergency water, sanitation and hygiene facilities, work on innovative ideas and new proposals

  • Degree from a recognised university in Engineering or equivalent experience.
Experience:
  • At least 3 years of practical experience Water, Sanitation and Hygiene projects in an NGO or the humanitarian sector.
  • Experience in managing a budget and contributing to project proposal budgets
  • Experience in managing a team
  • A working level of written and spoken English.
  • Working level of spoken Arabic.
Key Attributes:
  • At ease working with Syrian refugee communities and being based in Za’atari Refugee camp.
  • Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to cultural differences and gender issues, as well as the commitment to equal opportunities.

4- Senior Protection & Gender Officer

The Role

The Senior Officer – Protection & Gender will be responsible for mainstreaming protection in all Oxfam programmes in Za’atari Camp, in addition to ensuring that Oxfam’s vision for Gender Justice in Jordan is achieved; mainly that women and girls, in all their diversities, are able to realize their life choices in all spheres and enjoy their rights in peaceful and equal societies freely without fear.
Our role will require a range of skills and experience.
Essential
  • University degree in a relevant discipline (law, political science, social science, psychology or any other relevant education profile), master degree preferable.
  • Demonstrable experience (minimum 2 years) in working with communities in humanitarian or development contexts.
  • Demonstrable experience in using participatory research and participatory assessment methodologies.
  • Previous experience in using and adapting community-led approaches.
  • Good understanding and knowledge in application of do no harm, conflict sensitivity principles and ICRC standards and ethics for protection work.
  • Good understanding of protection and refugee issues related to conflict including human rights and refugee rights.
  • Good levels of spoken and written English and fluent in Arabic.
  • Commitment to humanitarian principles and action and to Oxfam’s equal opportunity and gender policies.
  • Able to collect, enter and analyse data against project indicators.
  • Understanding of monitoring processes, learning, adaptation and evaluation.
  • Ability to work in multi-cultural team, high level of adaptability and initiative.
  • Ability and experience in training delivery.
  • Strong technical understanding and leadership.
  • Team work approach is essential.
