MENA Analyst

iMMAP is a pioneering humanitarian organization leading the way forward in the effective use of information management practices and principles at the service of the humanitarian relief and development community.
SCOPE OF WORK
The MENA analyst will work with the iMMAP research and analysis team to provide in-depth quantitative and qualitative analytical support to Iraq and Syria focused projects. Roles may include, but are not limited to, conducting research interviews, Arabic and English language desk research, analysis of local stakeholders and governance structures, and conducting follow-up research with field staff. The MENA Analyst will report to the relevant Component and Project Leads.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
GENERAL
The MENA Analyst  will primarily be involved in conducting research, analysis and report writing based upon the team’s MENA research needs. MENA Analyst roles include:
Provide high quality research and analysis to the iMMAP analysis team enabling evidence-based representation from the field and ensure documentation is supported;
Conduct research into barriers to social cohesion and economic opportunities across Iraq, utilizing both open source research and key informant interviews to look into cross-sectoral issues as needed by the team;
Stay aware of political, social, economic and cultural developments that have an impact on the development and humanitarian environment in Iraq and Syria for inclusion in analysis and timely alerting of appropriate actors;
Monitor open source information on key developments in Jordan, Syria and the region, as well as contributing to specific research projects based on information gaps identified by team;
Work under the oversight of the Project Lead and Senior Analysts to support project design and implementation on research and analysis projects in Iraq, Syria, and the region;
Contribute to production of regular written reports and dashboards;
Provide regular operational support for the partner and Project team throughout;
Work closely with iMMAP technical specialists in support of data visualization, imagery and GIS;
Contribute to Requests for Information from partners; and,
Additional tasks as needed, contributing to iMMAP global projects.
REPRESENTATION
Represent the iMMAP country office with national and international partners, donors, and media, and participate in local stakeholder engagement as appropriate;
Maintain effective and positive internal contacts with iMMAP country and regional representatives, external contacts with national and local government officials, international non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and partner organizations;
Follow iMMAP’s branding regulations required for marketing or branding of all iMMAP products and correspondence.
SECURITY
? Follow security protocols as laid down by the iMMAP Global Security Advisor.
ORGANIZATIONAL LEARNING
➢ As part of the iMMAP commitment to organizational learning, and in support of the understanding that learning organizations are more effective, efficient and relevant to the communities they serve, it is expected that he/she will commit 5% of their time to learning activities that benefit iMMAP, as well as individual professional development.
ACCOUNTABILITY TO BENEFICIARIES
➢ iMMAP team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to beneficiaries of iMMAP programs, and to international standards guiding relief and development work, while actively engaging beneficiary communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of field projects.
SUPERVISION
He/she will work under the direct supervision of the Amman-based Project Coordinator and Seniors Analysts, as well as with iMMAP country, regional and headquarters-based Operations, Administration/Finance and Technical Support units.
WORKING RELATIONS
Internally, he/she will work closely with relevant functional units and the rest of the Research and Analysis team. Externally, he/she will be expected to liaise with international and local partners, NGOs, UN agencies and other relevant actors.
