Information and Communications Manager – Consultant

ROLE PURPOSE: With support from the Advocacy, Media and Communications lead, the Information and Communications Manager will lead on and manage the communications (both internal and external) work for the SRO and its operational workflow process, in regards to the attacks on education monitoring system.SCOPE OF ROLE: Reports to: Advocacy, Media and Communications Director.KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY : Communications

  • Support Save the Children implementing partner in setting up an information gathering and sharing protocol in regards to the attacks on education monitoring system.
  • Gather information, content and interviews as necessary for external communications work on the education monitoring mechanism.
  • Present the mechanism to education cluster partners, gather information and feedback.
  • Write a final report of the mechanism’s processes and procedures.
  • Develop documentation, including report on establishment, for the attacks on education monitoring system.
  • Conduct content gathering visits to project activities/events, to collect high quality case studies, photos, etc.
  • Liaise with the regional office to ensure sign off, following specific guidelines, on all Syria crisis materials for external use on attacks on education monitoring system.
  • Liaise with the education cluster on the system development.

External communications

  • In line with agreed external communications protocols, support the development of products for media work for Save the Children SRO and the Education Cluster on the developed system.
  • Respond quickly and appropriately to external requests for information.

Building and maintaining effective relationshipsDevelop and maintain good internal relationships with the education cluster and implementing partnerEXPERIENCE AND SKILLSEssential

  • High level of both spoken and written English and Arabic.
  • University degree or equivalent experience in journalism, media, communications or similar discipline.
  • At least five years of professional experience in communications, multimedia, journalism, media or external communications work in an INGO or media setting
  • At least two year of experience communications material production
  • Experience and understanding of the in-Syria and regional Syrian crisis

Desireable

  • Previous INGO experience
  • Previous multimedia production experience
  • Save the Children previous experience.
