Vacancy AnnouncementSite EngineerUNRWA is committed to achieving gender parity at all levels of staffing under the current UN-widegender agenda and strongly encourages applications from qualified women.UNRWA welcomes applications from qualified candidates with disabilities.PLACE IN THE ORGANIZATION:-The incumbent of this post is responsible to the Project Manager / Construction engineer /Maintenance engineer.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesIn accordance with Agency policy and procedures, the incumbent: Measures and agrees with contractors’ staff the quantities of work executed and checks otheraccounts such as government sales tax to be recovered by the Agency so that the interimand final payments due to the contractor can be certified;Vacancy Announcement Number LDC/05/2020Contract Status Limited Duration Contract (LDC); Six months durationrenewable; Appointment subject to funding confirmation,satisfactory performance and continuity of need.Benefits- LDC: Band “E”/ S2 Monthly salary is JD 990.300including transportation allowance (No use for UNcar) and other expenses and depending onprofessional knowledge, experience and location ofprojects.- Other benefits include medical insurance andannual leave and dependency allowance (ifapplicable).Department Field Infrastructure & Camp Improvement ProgramDuty Station Jordan Field OfficeIssue Date 19 July 2020Deadline for Applications 01 August 2020 Checks and records on working drawings/as built drawings prepared for this purpose, theactual level and details of foundations, the type of strata encountered in the excavation andfull details of any deviations from the working drawings/as built drawings which may havebeen made during the execution of the work In case of any work which may result in the contractor claiming payment as additional work,evaluates and records all relevant circumstances in detail and in consultation with the projectmanager agrees with the contractor costs of labour, materials and equipment involved inexecuting the additional work to facilitate decisions made by project manager. Maintains a site diary with a detailed history of the construction/maintenance works and allhappenings at the site and submits regular reports; Records and reports progress of work in comparison with the contractor’s programme of workas agreed by the Agency; Examines and approves, in consultation with the project manager as necessary, methodsproposed by the contractor to ensure safe and satisfactory execution of the permanent work; Supervises the work carried out by contractors on site to ensure that it is executed to correctline and level, the materials and workmanship comply with the specifications and all necessarytests on materials including inspections of manufacture at source of components areincorporated into the permanent works; Coordinates and supervises the maintenance projects in the Area and reports on progress. Conducts periodic routine inspections of all Agency buildings, installations and infrastructureand takes necessary action in the case of essential maintenance requirements. Carries out contract administration duties as directed, including the preparation of bills ofquantities, cost estimates for quantities and materials, specifications, interim and final paymentcertificates, etc. Responsible in coordination with the project manager for expenditure and cost control on allmaintenance contracts under his responsibility. Prepares work plans and periodic progress reports for maintenance and other engineeringworks to the project manager. Performs such other duties as may be assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS A university degree in civil engineering. A minimum of five years’ experience in site supervision of building projects , including at leastone year in maintenance /construction projects (supervision or contractor) . Good command of written and spoken English and Arabic.Competencies Ability to take initiative and produce sound professional judgment; Knowledge of local practice and materials used in Jordan; Ability to prioritize and evaluate works; Ability to work under pressure; Good communication (both written & verbal)

 Only candidates residing in Jordan with authorization to work in that duty station at the timeof application are eligible to apply.
